ECW Review 7/28/09
by the8bitboy on Jul.29, 2009, under Reviews
Welcome to my first ECW review, I’m trying to come up with a new title for this review. Something like the “Tuesday Night Rewind” or “Terrific Tuesday Review” I know those are lame names so that’s why I’m trying to come up with a new one lol. So if you have any suggestions just leave a comment or email me. Anyway let’s get to the review.
Tyler Reks vs Paul Burchill was a pretty decent match. Like I said a few times on my Twitter account, Tyler Reks is a good athlete but he has a gimmick that’s going to lead him no where. Burchill landed a wicked side suplex on Reks which really stood out. After this match they can either start a Burchill/Reks storyline or continue the one that Burchill has with Goldust.
Next we had Kozlov vs local talent Bill Baine. Another squash match but I am liking this storyline between Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson. I’m giving Jackson the slight edge just because I’m loving his “Brawl for All” remixed theme song. Many people are saying that these two will team up and win the undisputed tag team titles which I personally think would be a fresh idea. It would create a great unstoppable monster team that could provide good storylines with smaller challengers.
Now we have Sheamus vs Goldust, and of course I’ve been totally marking for Sheamus ever since he debuted. This guy has the look, the music, the mic skills, bright future for the Celtic Warrior. Sorry if I forgot to mention this but that crowd last night was AWESOME! Even in the first match between Reks/Burchill this crowd was totally into the matches. I think that’s why the match between Goldust and Sheamus was very entertaining. It’s good to see Goldust get the younger talent over and he did a very good job with Sheamus last night.
Last and of course not least we had Christian vs my main man at the moment, the WOO WOO WOO! You know it man of the hour, Zack Ryder. I have been marking for this guy ever since he redebuted on ECW. Every thing I’ve said about Sheamus can be said about Zack Ryder, and he proved it last night. It wasn’t the greatest technical match in the world but again I have to stress that the crowd gave the right atmosphere in order for these two superstars to shine.
At this point I just hope they start booking him the right way. He made the most out of wrestling the ECW Champion and hopefully management saw that last night. This is an honest overview of ECW, I think that this has been my favorite year for the new ECW. Last year was good but I’ve enjoyed so many of the new young stars that have come out of FCW/ECW so far. I was sad to see the Hart Dynasty, Jack Swagger, and the others move on so early but they have been replaced with equally as talented athletes.
As much as fans have trashed (myself included lol) the new revised WWE ECW, I think it’s finally reached the point where it matches the same essence of the original ECW. Yes there aren’t as many extreme hardcore matches like the original product, but the intentions of the original product are definitely there. Helping younger talent grow and letting them have a stage in order to do it in. Sorry for the side rant lol but I really did enjoy this week’s episode of the show.
So yeah if you have any suggestions for a name either for the Raw, ECW, or Smackdown reviews that we do here on the website, just leave a message or email. You’re feedback is always appreciated. Anyway I hope I didn’t bore you guys too much, until next time take care.
