WWE Raw Review: 8-24-2009
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Guest Host: Floyd Mayweather, Jr
Review by: Mr. Kontot
MATCHES:
The Miz def. Santino Marella def. by Pinfall
The Miz is not awesome. Nothing interesting here. I guess The Miz will be Kofi
Kingston next opponent for the United States Championship
Overall Match Grade: D

Mayweather Maylay - Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendez and Alicia Fox def. Mickie James,
Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim by Pinfall
Short match. Finish was Alicia Fox hitting an axe kick on Mickie James. Could this
a future title match for Breaking Point?
Overall Match Grade: B-

MVP and Mark Henry def. Big Show and Chris Jericho by Pinfall
I like the pairing of MVP and Mark Henry I can see them as future Unified Tag Team
Champions. I really want someone to beat Big Show and Jericho so I don’t have to
hear Jericho whining every week. I hate Jericho as a heel, he is so annoying. By
the way, MVP and Henry will be the next opponents for there belt at Breaking Point
Overall Match Grade: B-

Box Exhibition Hornwoggle def. Chavo Guerrero by Disqualification
Horrible match, Can the writer please end this feud already. Its getting old and
waste of time.
Overall Match Grade: F

No Disqualification – Degeneration X and Vince McMahon def. Randy Orton and Legacy
by pinfall
Good to see Vince in the ring again and John Cena get his revenge after a BS
ending at Summer Slam. Entertaining match and loved how the match ended.
It will be John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Breaking point
Overall Match Grade: B

RAW Overall
LOL!!! Happy Birthday Vince McMahon!!! Man, it took ever for Mayweather to come
guess he was on Filipino time or something. Loved the all the DX segments especially
what did for Vince for his birthday lol. Breaking Point looks like its going to be a
good pay per view so far.
Overall Show Grade: B-

Location: Alberta, Canada Review by: insane!

Host: Jeremy Jim Ross Co-Host: Todd Grisham

Quick Match Results:

Match 1: Dolph Ziggler def. Finlay

Match 2: CM Punk def. John Morrison

Match 3: Melina def. Layla

Match 4: Big Show (w/Chris Jericho) def. JTG (w/Shad)

Main Event: Hart Dynasty def. Jeff Hardy in a 2 on 1 Handicap Match

CM Punk’s music hits and out comes the Straightedge superstar to a loud chorus of “boo.” Punk grabs a microphone.Punk starts off by saying that GM Long is wrong by claiming that TLC is Jeff Hardy’s specialty because everyone knows the kind of damage he can do with a chair, such as destroying Jeff Hardy in recent weeks, and his success with ladders in Money in the Bank, where he is a 2 time back to back winner. “I can waste my breathe and try to tell you the importance of virtues like honesty and integrity, but you’re all just slaves to Jeff Hardy and his hip little ‘in the moment’ propaganda. Besides anything I do or say will make you cheer and love Jeff Hardy that much more.” So then Punk realizes the “daunting” task ahead of him that he has to complete, one in which the people will actually contribute to society. “I figured that all I have to do is end Jeff Hardy,” Punk stated. He then added that Jeff always screws things up and is well on his way to screwing this one up as well, because Jeff may not even make it to SummerSlam.

This prompted GM Long to cut Punk right off, much to the crowds delight. Long made his way down to the ring with a microphone in hand. Long called Punk’s actions last week deplorable and asked him if he realized that he could’ve ended Jeff’s career. “But I’ll tell you what, before you start to make alternative plans for SummerSlam, I came out here to tell you that Jeff Hardy will be here tonight and he has assured me that he will be ready to face you Punk at SummerSlam.” Then as Long started to remind Punk that he will be facing John Morrison later in the night, Punk said he was done with GM Long and started to leave when Jeff Hardy’s music hit.

Out comes the Charismatic Enigma, Jeff Hardy, dressed up in street clothes. He walks very gingerly to the ring and grabs a microphone. “I am hurt, but I am here…in your face!” Jeff exclaimed. Jeff then said that he will successfully defend his title at SummerSlam before holding the championship high above his head. Jeff’s music hit and he slowly made his way back up the ramp as Punk mocked Jeff’s injuries.

Backstage:

GM Long is shown doing some paperwork when he receives a call from Mr. McMahon. Mr. McMahon reminds Long that he is on probations and orders Long to put Jeff Hardy in action tonight against the Hart Dynasty. GM Long has no other choice but to make the match official.

Finlay v. Dolph Ziggler

Finlay takes Ziggler down with a shoulderblock before striking with a devastating European Uppercut. Moments later, as Finlay tries to Irish Whip Ziggler to the corner, Ziggler reverses it and sends Finlay onto the outside. Ziggler then quickly tries for a baseball slide, but Finlay pulls the ring skirt of the apron and traps Ziggler. After pounding Ziggler a couple of times Finlay brings Ziggler onto the apron. Suddenly, Ziggler uses his head as a battering ram and hits Finlay in the lower abdominal area. With Finlay down on the apron, Ziggler charges at Finlay and catches the Irishman with a kick to the face causing Finlay’s head to bounce off the ringpost! At this point, Mike Knox is shown making his way down to ringside. Back in the ring, Ziggler pins Finlay but gets a 2 count.

Now Ziggler is in control as he has a modified shoulderlock applied. As Finlay breaks loose, Ziggler catches Finlay with a clothesline. Moments later, Ziggler connects with a standing elbow drop and proceeds to apply a sleeper hold. After some time, Ziggler releases the hold and pounds on Finlay in the corner. Finlay however finds some separation and tackles Ziggler to the floor and starts pounding on him. Shortly thereafter, Finlay kicks Ziggler in the face and connects with the rolling fireman’s carry slam for a 2 count. After drilling Ziggler with a few clotheslines, Finlay then brings Ziggler onto the outside. Finlay leaps off the apron and catches Ziggler with a clothesline. Finlay then throws Ziggler back into the ring and as Finlay tries to get inside the ring via the apron, Mike Knox walks near Finlay, Finlay quickly kicks Knox away. Ziggler sees an opportunity and charges at Finlay, but Finlay blocks him and chokes him on the ropes. As Ziggler falls back, the referee checks up on him. Finlay then enters the ring, but from behind, Knox grabs Finlay’s shillelagh and strikes at the Irishman’s calf area. As Finlay stumbles, Ziggler recovers and hits Zig-Zag aka ( jumping reverse bulldog) for the win.

Dolph Ziggler def. Finlay for the Win with the his move Zig- Zag

After the match:

As Ziggler celebrates his victory back up the ramp, Mike Knox gets into the ring. Finlay shoves Knox off, but Knox hits a crossbody. Knox takes Finlay onto the outside and knocks Finlay out with a sidewalk slam onto the steel steps on sold freak’n steel . Knox then grabs a microphone and says “its common knowledge that there is 206 bones in human body, fascinated me the slightest trauma on the cervical vertebrae leaves one in quite a lot of excruciating discomfort.” Knox slowly Walks up the Rap with a Sick smile on his face.

Backstage :

Ranjin Singh is strapped onto a chair and he is yelling the words, “I didn’t do anything.” Kane’s voice can be heard and he orders Singh to look into the camera and say “it.” Singh tries to refuse, but Kane comes in and chokes Singh. Singh finally says his name and that he is being punished because of his association with Great Khali. Singh then says that he has been treated fairly and he has been well taken care of. Singh quickly tries to ask for help in his native language, but Kane punches Singh in the face several times and says “ I don’t want you to say any thing else”. Kane then looks into the camera and says that he wants Khali to come and look at his handy work.

Backstage:

the lovely Melina and Maria are shown talking about SummerSlam weekend when Layla intervenes. She has a message for Melina and that is that Michelle McCool will be returning next week. Melina responds to Layla by saying that she too has a message for Layla to take back to McCool, but says that she will give it to her in the ring.

John Morrison v. CM Punk

Following an early lockup, the two superstars exchanged a couple of wristlocks. Not long after, Punk struck Morrison with a couple of Moon Thai bringing Morrison to his knees . Punk then lifted Morrison up and charged at him, but Morrison tripped Punk and hit the Straightedge superstar with a springboard moonsault. Following a 2 count, Morrison allowed Punk to get up and Morrison immediately took Punk back down with the flying chuck kick. As Morrison tried to pin Punk, Punk slid onto the outside area. As Morrison tried to escape, Punk tripped Morrison on the apron and kicked him across chest. With Morrison still lying on the apron, Punk went up to the middle rope and struck Morrison with a double knee drop

WWE Raw Review: 8-10-2009

Location: Calgary, Alberta Canada

Review by: Mr. Kontot

Guest Host: Sgt. Slaughter

Announcement: Chris Jericho vs John Cena

Big Show vs Randy Orton

Fatal 4 Way – Winner to get future championship match – Gail Kim def. Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, and Beth Phoenix by Pinfall

I knew this was coming with all the signs pointing to Gail Kim being the next in line for a title shot. It is about time that she gets her shot. It was a very entertaining match the ladies were high flyers in this match. Alicia Fox is becoming a pretty good wrestler improving her skills every week.

Overall Match Grade: A-

Jack Swagger def. Evan Bourne

This was a better match compared to last week. I guess I was wrong about the whole “This could be the beginning of a long feud between these two” that I predicted last week. Instead of feuding with Bourne, Swagger will be feuding with MVP which is an even match up in my opinion. This could be an entertaining feud between the two. By the way, Swagger wins the feud between Bourne 2-1. Hopefully they will face each other again in the future.

Overall Match Grade: B-

Contract on a pole match – Winner gets contract to be on RAW – Calgary Kid def. Eugene

Horrible short match and what made it worse is that the Calgary Kid was The Miz. I hate that guy. It was good to see Eugene but it was good that he did not end up on RAW. I think he would fit best in ECW.

Overall Match Grade: F

The Big Show def. Randy Orton by Count out

Very slow pace match it was like watching a regular wrestling match in slow motion. Big show is a very boring guy to watch wrestle. Nothing entertaining here. Probably the best move in the match was Randy Orton letting himself get count out.

Overall Match Grade: F

MVP def. Chris Masters by Pinfall

Basically a revenge match for MVP after what Masters did to him a couple of weeks ago in the Beat the clock match. Decent match with nothing that really stood out except for the run in by Swagger.

Overall Match Grade: C

Legacy def. Mark Henry and Hornswoggle

Another short match. Highlight of the match was Henry suplexing both Legacy guys. It was about time Chavo got Hornswoggle back.

Overall Match Grade: C

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho went to no contest

Decent match it had potential to be a good match but it was basically a setup for next weeks match. Cena and Orton against Jericho and Big Show.

Overall Match Grade: C

RAW Overall

Love the whole Triple H and Shaun Michaels part of the show I was laughing my ass when Michaels super kicked his boss and that little girl. Degeneration X is back baby!!! Majority of the matches were entertaining couple of wack match leading into a decent RAW. I was not entertained by Sgt. Slaughter as the guest host. He did not really do much compared to the other guest host from previous hosts. He did not even enter the ring.

Overall Show Grade: C+

NOTES:

- Ricky Ortiz was released by WWE
